1. Insects emit chemicals called pheromones which enable them to assemble for necessary purposes.2. The aggregation pheromone emitted by the GGB has been synthesized. Synthetic aggregation pheromones are used to attract the GGB to traps.
3. The traps are used by the Government of Kenya either to monitor presence of the GGB or its spread in the natural environment. The traps are expensive to make or buy. It is in the interest of everyone to protect the traps from damage and theft. So, kindly report any damage or theft of traps to any official of the Ministry of Agriculture or to the administrative authorities.
